| Doctor's Statement |
There are many advantages to being an independent physician and I have truly been blessed to be able to practice for many years in this wonderful community. Being a solo physician and being independent allowed me to institute an electronic medical record in my office in 1994 when the use of the computer in medicine was still in its infancy. While the EMR (electronic medical record) is becoming more and more commonplace, I have been able to use it for the benefit of my patients for many years. I was also able to institute open access scheduling years ago. That is, we are able to see virtually all patients on the day and time of their choosing. Since I am independent, I am able to refer my patients to a specialist whom I feel would be best able to handle their problem. While most patients can be well managed in Watertown, I am not forced to refer to any particular physician, hospital or health care system. Being independent has allowed me to employ a world class staff, including two outstanding physician assistants. Finally, being independent has allowed me to be flexible and quickly respond to the changing needs of our patients. |
