| Doctor's Statement |
Practicing obstetrics and gynecology as an independent practitioner means that I am able to practice medicine as I was trained - devoting time to listen to each woman who comes to the office seeking to improve or maintain her health. There are no quotas requiring that I see more and more patients in a given time period. I recently read a criticism of physicians who have been practicing a few years. The more recently trained physicians were better able to keep up with the time constraints of managed care. They didnt spend time listening to their patients. Wow! I never though listening to my patients was a bad thing. Often, I find that spending a little time listening helps me to better understand a persons situation, so that I may more accurately assess the problem, understand her situation and advise her in steps she may take in finding a solution. Further, my approach is one of guidance. Each person must make choices that will affect her health and sense of well-being. I offer advice and information about what some of her choices might be so that whe may make informed decisions about her health care options. I then provide whatever services I am able to help her acheive her goals, either through direct care or through connecting to other services in or through the Watertown community. |
